Obituary of Nancy M. Schaut

Nancy Morley Schaut passed away on December 20, 2023, at ‘Teresian House’ nursing facility in Albany, NY.  Nancy was born July 1, 1926 in Lockport, NY.  She was the daughter of Thomas and Minerva Morley. 

Nancy graduated from Deaconess Hospital Nursing School in 1946 and earned her master’s degree in art history from the University of Buffalo in 1980.  As a Registered Nurse, Nancy worked for American Red Cross, Veterans Hospital and Deaconess Hospital, before becoming self-employed, retiring in 1984. 

After retirement, Nancy and her sister Sue traveled throughout Europe and Asia including trips to China, Egypt, and Russia.

Nancy was a member of Mensa, the Old Fort Niagara Association, and the Hudson River Clearwater Revival. 

She was predeceased by her husband Levern A. Schaut in 2006, brother Thomas D. Morley in 2007, daughter Sandra Karcher in 2007, and sister Susan Morley in 2020.

Nancy is survived by her children Gary (Faith) Schaut, Patricia (William) Hines, and Richard (Cindy Lancelot) Schaut; son-in-law Randy Karcher; 5 grandchildren: Eric Hines; Christopher Schaut; Adrian Schaut; Lorelei Lacey; Abigail Karcher, and 3 great grandchildren: Caleb Lacey; Emma Lacey; Torin Ridenour-Schaut.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, May 5th from 12-2 PM with a service to follow at 2 PM all in Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.
