Mary J. Cafora passed away July 3, 2015 in Buffalo General Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Batavia on May 13, 1926 she was the daughter of Angelo and Philomena (Peca) Pontillo. Mary owned and operated Carfora's Restaurant, Lockport for 40 years and she was also the cook from 1970 to 1995. Her biggest joy in life was feeding family and friends she also enjoyed going to the casino and enjoyed being with her family immensely, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband Michael J. Cafora in 1999. Mary is survived by her children Michael Cafora, Donna (John) Shepard, and Robert (Christine) Cafora all of Lockport; grandmother of Robert, Nicholas (Heather), Joseph, Jennifer, and Steven; great grandmother of Brennan, Nicholas, Zoe, and Kingston; sister of the late Rosie, Jennie, Jimmy, Tony, Sam, Eleanor, Anna and Mike; also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 8th at 10:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
